Walmart+ has just unveiled the newest addition to its ever-growing benefits list: Rx for less. For all Walmart+ subscribers past the free trial portion of their membership, Walmart is now offering up to 85% off on thousands of prescriptions, along with 6 select perceptions that will be entirely free.
These 6 select prescriptions are Amlodipine, Cephalexin, Metoformin IR, Escitalopram, Lisinopril, and SMZ/TMP, also known as Bactrim. Normally these medications average between $55-$10 according to Clinical Drug Stats, making this a substantial savings that cover a wide variety of some of the most common uses for prescription medications.

On top of that, this new benefit also includes major discounts on thousands of other prescriptions, which you can search for using the Walmart+ Rx website. This discount can be as much as 85% off, but Walmart estimates average savings are closer to 65%, based on nationwide retail pharmacy prices data from MedImpact.
There are currently over 4,000 participating Walmart pharmacies nationwide to choose from, so simply put your information in and search for the location nearest to you. So long as your Walmart+ account is no longer in the free trial phase, it will automatically grant access to a digital pharmacy savings card in your account. When you need to fill a prescription, share the info on your savings card with a Walmart pharmacist & they'll take it from there.

As with all things related to healthcare, there are some stipulations. What Walmart+ offers is not a substitute for insurance, nor can it be combined with insurance. Also, some of these discounts are not available in all states, most notably California. The six free medications offered by Walmart+ are $2 each in California, as the state does not support free medications.
